Banco San Marco Ringer
A bronze winged lion, the emblem of the Republic of Venice, greets visitors to the Banco San Marco in Venice, Italy.
Founded in 1895, Banco San Marco was created by the Diocesan Committee of the Work of the Congress in Venice. Catholic associations and Patriarch Giuseppe Sarto, future Pope Pius X thought it would be best to have a bank established to meet the needs of the community and the Venetian people.
